YEAR
In Progress
The renovation reinterprets a traditional residence in Limnos through a restrained Mediterranean language, preserving the character and proportions of the existing structure while introducing a more contemporary way of living. The intervention focuses on restoring the original architectural elements and reorganising the interiors to create a sense of continuity between the different spaces.
The residence accommodates the main living and dining area, a compact kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms, while maintaining the intimate scale of the existing house.
A muted palette of warm whites, natural stone, dark timber and olive-green joinery establishes a quiet material language. Limewashed surfaces, exposed timber, traditional roof tiles and handcrafted elements retain the vernacular character, while simple built-in furniture and carefully selected details introduce a contemporary layer.
The exterior courtyard is reimagined as an extension of the living spaces, with gravel surfaces, an olive tree and Mediterranean planting creating a calm relationship with the surrounding landscape. Rather than imposing a new architectural identity, the renovation works through material restraint and subtle interventions, allowing the existing structure and the character of Limnos to remain at the centre of the house.
